Seiko 5 Sports - Sports - SRPD57K1
For over 50 years, Seiko 5 Sports has offered a consistently high level of reliability, durability, performance, and value, making it popular among mechanical watch enthusiasts worldwide. Today, with the creation of a new design and a broad new collection, this beloved watch is reborn. Welcome to the new Seiko 5 Sports, a collection that embodies the same values but with a fresh new look.
The history of Seiko began in 1881 when Kintaro Hattori opened a shop in Ginza for the repair and sale of watches. In 1892, he established a factory named Seikosha to produce his own watches. Twenty years later, when pocket watches were still the standard, he experimented with wristwatches, which were the latest technology at the time. In 1913, his company produced Japan's first wristwatch, the Laurel, marking the beginning of many innovations that advanced the art of watchmaking, including the first quartz wristwatch in 1969 and the groundbreaking Spring Drive technology in 1999.
In 2023, Seiko will celebrate the 110th anniversary of its first wristwatch with the release of a series of commemorative timepieces. The celebrations will begin with the announcement of a new creation inspired by the Laurel from 1913.
