Satellite receivers make old TVs fit: they help if the TV set does not have an integrated satellite receiver, offer recording and network functions. Some also allow the owner to watch one programme and record another at the same time. Many models show weaknesses in the test: Some cannot show private channels like RTL and Sat.1 in HD, others record programmes in unusual file formats or offer no or only rudimentary network functions. At least four devices are good. In the test: 12 satellite receivers, 8 with single and 4 with twin tuners.
