In the 1980s, the world went crazy for Rubik’s cubes. As time went on, however, the toys lost their magic. Now, thanks to viral videos on social media, these puzzle cubes are inspiring a new generation. Sales of Rubik’s cubes at online retailer Galaxus have more than quadrupled since 2020. Although the original cube still dominates the market, smaller brands are catching up.

The Rubik’s cube is cool again

A representative survey conducted in Europe reveals: half of all respondents use filthy cloths and sponges to clean their pots and pans. Women use cleaner kitchen towels than men. And people in Switzerland have the filthiest bath towels, but the Germans are hot on their heels.

Galaxus survey: 7 in 10 people in Germany dry off with dirty bath towels

In 2025, Galaxus customers in Switzerland have been making voluntary climate contributions for around 10 per cent of their purchases so far. In 2022, the figure was slightly higher at 12 per cent. In Germany, the rate even temporarily fell from 8 to 4.25 per cent, but has been going up since late 2024.
