
Catastrophic support/repairs
I was extremely happy with my Acer VL7860 projector (4K laser) until I had to send it in for repair (following damage for which I was responsible). After an initial repair and a bill for more than half the value of the projector (...), it came back with lots of spots in the image, due to dirt/dust on the optical elements. Back for repair (free of charge this time) and again: stains (albeit less obvious) in the image, for the same reasons. The support staff are clearly not trained for this type of delicate work... I then asked for the Service Manual so that I could clean my projector myself (an operation I'd carried out successfully on a Panasonic projector in the past), but was refused on the grounds that it "contained instructions reserved for the manufacturer" (...). I therefore agreed to make a (very) substantial investment to repair my projector in the hope of seeing it come back 'as good as new'... but I now find myself with a virtually unusable product that will have cost me one and a half times its price. Acer, **NEVER**, **EVER** again!!!!
