DIY tip: hang your pictures without a hitch

Until now, my method of attaching pictures to walls has been more a matter of luck than understanding. But I've finally found a way to change that.

Paintings are great. They breathe life into bare walls. Hanging them on the wall, on the other hand, is a different kettle of fish. Especially when there's more than one to hang. My problem: the hook for hanging the picture is at the back of the frame, which doesn't really make it easy to mark on the wall. I try either with the naked eye, or I colour the tab like crazy and hope it leaves a bit of paint on the wall.

Pull the ribbon from the frame and place it where you want it on the wall. As the ribbon represents the top and width of the frame, you can get a fairly accurate idea of how it will look. It's a good idea to use a spirit level to make sure everything is straight. All you have to do now is place the screw or nail at the pencil mark.

I'm pleased to have finally found a method that makes positioning and hanging pictures so easy. The days when I had to accept frustration - sometimes even ready to admit defeat - for the sake of a few good memories are finally over.
