Hasbro bans plastic from packaging

From 2020, Hasbro will begin to remove plastic from its packaging. This includes well-known games such as Nerf, My Little Pony, Monopoly and Magic: The Gathering.
Hasbro declared war on plastic a few days ago. From next year, the games manufacturer will begin to remove all plastic from its packaging. This includes plastic bags, rubber bands, shrink-wrap, plastic film and transparent packaging. The company's goal is to eliminate almost all plastics from the packaging of new products by the end of 2022.
Removing plastic from our packaging is the latest progress in our more than ten-year journey to create a more sustainable future for our company and our world.
Hasbro has long been committed to environmental sustainability. From the elimination of cable ties in 2010 to the use of plant-based BioPET in 2018 and most recently with a recycling programme for used toys.
Hasbro's toy recycling programme allows US consumers to send Hasbro toys and games to TerraCycle, the world's leading supplier of product recycling. TerraCycle then uses the materials to build playgrounds, flower pots or park benches. Hasbro recently announced the expansion of the programme to France, Germany and Brazil and plans to extend the programme to other markets.
