Autumn Cup: Take part in the "League of Legends" tournament
by Philipp Rüegg
At the League of Legends Autumn Cup, 21 teams battled it out for a place in the final. But in the end, there can only be one. Find out which Swiss e-sports team came out on top and how you can still take part here.
If you didn't know what to do with "Counter-Strike: GO", you had the chance to prove yourself in "League of Legends" last weekend. The second gaming tournament organised by mYinsanity, Logitech and digitec was all about the most popular MOBA of all time.
21 teams from all over Switzerland took part in the 1st qualifier to secure one of the coveted places in the final. The rush was not quite as great as at the "Counter-Strike: GO Summer Cup", but still considerable. And who knows, maybe everyone is waiting for the 2nd qualifier.
The game is played according to the knockout principle. Whoever loses is eliminated. Whoever wins advances to the next round. The winners of the two qualifiers advance to the final.
Not all matches could be shown in the livestream. Here are the highlights from the matches that were shown: After a quick first round, NOX BBCs faced Cross Site Feeding in the Round of 16. NOX BBCs took the intermediate victory.
In the second streamed match, we followed Lausanne-Sport eSports, the favourites of the tournament. They showed that they not only harmonise perfectly as a team, but that they are also excellent individual players.
In the semi-finals of the first qualifying round, caster Rafael "Aspartem" Kink showed us a very even matchup between XentionEsports and noob team with jngler. Both teams were able to win one game and went full throttle again in the third match. After a three-hour match (!!), Xention finally defeated their opponents and qualified for the final of the 1st Qualifier.
Lausanne, who had defeated Sorc-Gaming FARBE off-stream in the semi-finals, were waiting there. Lausanne ended up winning 2:0, although Xention gave them nothing.
Here's the overview of the first round.
This makes Lausanne-Sport eSports the first team to qualify for the "League of Legends Autumn Cup" final at Suisse Toy Digital - congratulations! Who will face them on stage will be decided on 8 October. That's when the 2nd Qualifier will take place. Registration is already open.

If your team has been eliminated or you missed the first round, you still have the chance to get a place in the final in the second qualifier. This will take place on 13 October at the Suisse Toy in Bern. Good luck!
Being the game and gadget geek that I am, working at digitec and Galaxus makes me feel like a kid in a candy shop – but it does take its toll on my wallet. I enjoy tinkering with my PC in Tim Taylor fashion and talking about games on my podcast http://www.onemorelevel.ch. To satisfy my need for speed, I get on my full suspension mountain bike and set out to find some nice trails. My thirst for culture is quenched by deep conversations over a couple of cold ones at the mostly frustrating games of FC Winterthur.
