Huawei P40 Lite unveiled: 4x camera and large battery

With the P40 Lite, Huawei has presented the first smartphone in the P40 family. Although it is the cheapest model in the series, it offers a comprehensive range of features, although there is one big unknown.
Due to the restrictions imposed by the US government, Huawei is not allowed to use Google services on its smartphones. For you, this means that the P40 Lite runs Android 10 on the device and Huawei provides the operating system with its own user interface as usual. However, services such as Gmail, Google Maps and the Play Store are missing. But there is a replacement.
AppGalery instead of Play Store
In recent months, Huawei developers have put a lot of effort into getting Huawei Mobile Services up and running. This is the name given to all services that replace the discontinued Google services. The most important component is the AppGalery. This is the new app store on Huawei's smartphones. However, its range is not yet as large as in the Play Store - even though Huawei is trying to get there.
The AppGalery offering, just like the option of upgrading Google services yourself, will be an important point in the tests of Huawei smartphones in the near future.

For those who are unsure about the change in software, Huawei is trying to convince them with the extensive features of the mid-range smartphone. You are looking at a 6.4-inch LCD display with a resolution of 1080×2310 pixels. It has a punch-hole design, which means the 16-megapixel front camera is located in a hole in the touchscreen.
Four cameras
A total of four cameras are available on the back. They are divided as follows: Main camera with a resolution of 48 megapixels, ultra-wide-angle camera with eight megapixels, macro camera with two megapixels and a depth-of-field camera that provides info for bokeh shots.
The fingerprint sensor is located on the side of the Huawei P40 Lite. Under the bonnet, you have the Kirin 810 chipset and six gigabytes of RAM at your disposal. That should be enough computing power for everyday use. The internal memory is pleasantly large at 128 gigabytes. If required, you can expand it - but only with an nm card from Huawei. MicroSD cards do not fit in the smartphone.
The battery has a generous capacity of 4200 mAh and should be charged to 70 per cent in 30 minutes with the included 40-watt charger.
Huawei plans to sell the P40 Lite from 26 March. The P40 and P40 Pro are also scheduled to be unveiled on this date. The Lite's big sisters, so to speak. The recommended retail price in Germany is 299 euros, no details are yet available for Switzerland. <p

When I was but a young student, I'd sit in my friend's living room with all my classmates and play on his SuperNES. Since then I've had the opportunity to test out all the newest technology for you. I've done reviews at Curved, Computer Bild and Netzwelt, and have now arrived at Galaxus.de.
