Stage Manager for more overview
The Stage Manager might be the biggest new feature of macOS Ventura and iPadOS 16. It has caused Apple some problems, which is why the two operating system updates have been delayed and not released together with iOS 16 as is usually the case. However, the launch of the new iPad and iPad Pro on 26 October is an equally fitting occasion for Apple.
The Stage Manager is supposed to help you keep track of everything when you have a lot of windows open. The idea: up to four grouped apps are in focus, the others are only visible to the left and small. Clicking on the app icons always brings another programme into focus.
The update brings, among other things, a new design for Spotlight search, Safari tabs that you can share with others and Passkey to the devices. The latter feature means you don't have to enter a password, but instead log in using FaceID or TouchID. We've compiled all the new features here.
iPadOS 16 will be released directly in version 16.1 for all iPad Pro, the iPad and iPad Mini from the fifth generation and the iPad Air from the third generation. For macOS Ventura, you need a Mac that was released in 2017 or later. If your device does not automatically offer you the update, you can find it in System Preferences.
