LoL Autumn Cup: SPG Esports advances to the final
In the second and final preliminary round of the "League of Legends Autumn Cup", 16 teams battled it out for a place in the final. The French-speaking Swiss from Lausanne Sport eSports are already waiting there. Their opponent is SPG Esports.
While the best League of Legends teams are competing at the World Championships in China, the best Swiss teams are battling it out to win the LoL Autumn Cup. Next Friday, the grand final can be watched live on stage at Suisse Toy Digital in Bern.
16 teams competed last weekend to secure their place in the final. After Lausanne Sport eSports qualified in September with virtually no competition, there were now significantly more well-known teams competing. With Xention Esports, mYinsanity and SPG Esports, three favourites were at the start, promising an exciting tournament. As expected, they fought their way through to the semi-finals with virtually no problems.
Repeat offenders
There, mYinsanity met SPG Esports and Xention Esports faced Team Sorc-Gaming FARBE. The latter two teams have already played in the first qualifier, but were eliminated there by Lausanne Sport eSports.
The semi-final between mYinsanity and SPG Esports was streamed live by casters "Aspartem" and "Gilouuu". In a very even match, the two teams battled for victory for around three hours. In the end, SPG Esports defeated their opponents 2:1 and qualified for the final of the second preliminary round.
Meanwhile, the team from Sorc-Gaming FARBE beat the players from Xention Esports and thus met SPG Esports in the final. In the final round, the balance of power was reversed. SPG Esports won confidently 2:0 and is thus the second finalist to go to Bern. The winner of the first preliminary round awaits there: Lausanne Sport eSports.
On to Bern
The final will be held next Friday 13 October 2017 on the Esports Stage at Suisse Toy Digital. The match starts at 14:00. If you can't make it to the Suisse Toy, you can follow the final on mYinsanity's Twitch channel.
