You will still spend many hours with your current smartphone until the iPhone 14 is unveiled in September. That does not stop the rumor mill from bubbling over Apple's new smartphone, which is said to no longer have a notch.
It will still be many months before the iPhone 14 is unveiled in September. Nevertheless, the rumor mill is already bubbling. The latest ingredient is that the notch will disappear.
The latest speculation is that the front camera of the iPhone 14 will have a hole in the display, and the technology for Face ID will be placed under the display. At least that's what Twitter leaker DylanDKT wants to know.
No more room for Face ID
The hole in the display will not be circular like in all other smartphones, but oval. Despite this special shape, the opening would be too small for the Face ID technology. Therefore, it is supposed to move under the display and work through it. Smartphones that already have the front-facing camera hidden under the display have not been convincing with the picture quality of their selfies so far. But they are at least good enough to recognize faces through the touchscreen.
DylanDKT thus confirms the assumptions of analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. He had already announced shortly after the presentation of the iPhone 13 that he expects a change to a so-called hole-punch camera for the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max. Translated into German, this is a hole-punch camera and the nicer term for the camera hole in the display.
We won't know for sure what's true about these rumors until September - I'm assuming Apple won't change anything in its usual time frame. Until then, there will still be many rumors and leaks about the iPhone 14 roaming the Internet.
