The Academy has decided who’s in the race to win an Oscar in the night of 9 to 10 February 2020. Which actors and movies would you vote for?

This is the moment many directors, actors and filmmakers have been waiting for: the Oscar nominations have just been announced in an official press release.

Unsurprisingly, «Joker» by director Todd Phillips has the best chances. The drama has been nominated in eleven Oscar nominations, including the most important category «Best picture».

Renée Zellweger, Joaquin Phoenix and Leonardo DiCaprio, among others, have been nominated in the category «Best actor in a leading role» and «Best actress in a leading role», while Brad Pitt, Laura Dern and Tom Hanks are up for «Best actor in a supporting role» and «Best actress in a supporting role». Todd Phillips, Martin Scorsese and Sam Mendes have a good chance of winning «Best director». «Parasite», the surprise hit from South Korea, was not only nominated in the category «Best foreign language film», but also in the category «Best picture».

The Oscar ceremony will take place in Los Angeles on the night of 9 to 10 February 2020. It starts at 5 p.m. EST, which is 1 a.m. in Switzerland.

But I'm also about curling up in an armchair with books about ugly intrigue and sinister kingkillers. Being an avid cinema-goer, I’ve been known to rave about film scores for hours on end. I’ve always wanted to say: «I am Groot.»
