Poco F2 Pro: Large AMOLED display, pop-up camera and plenty of power for little money
The Poco brand is still young, but has taken the place of Xiaomi when it comes to offering smartphones with top features at very favourable prices. Compared to the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro, the Poco F2 Pro is damn cheap.
While you can budget 1000 euros for the Mi 10 Pro, the recommended retail price for the Poco F2 Pro is 499 or 599 euros, depending on the configuration. The features are of course not identical, but the Poco doesn't need to hide.
Display without a hole and hardware with plenty of power
The Poco F2 Pro features a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a full HD+ resolution of 2400×1080 pixels, which supports HDR10+ and has neither a hole nor a cut-out for the front camera. A Z-axis linear motor is designed to provide haptic feedback in games, among other things. The smartphone's fingerprint sensor is also located in the display.
The Snapdragon 865 should provide enough computing power. After all, this is currently the most powerful chipset from Qualcomm, which is also installed in many other top smartphones. It is supported by either 6 or 8 gigabytes of RAM. The internal memory, which is 128 or 256 gigabytes in size, also changes with the RAM.
The battery has a capacity of 4700 mAh and should be charged to 100 per cent in 63 minutes via the USB-C port. The fast charging technology with 30 watts should also charge the battery to 64 per cent in the first 30 minutes.
Four visible and one hidden camera
There are a total of four camera lenses on the back of the Poco F2 Pro. These are the main camera with the Sony IMX686 image sensor and a resolution of 64 megapixels, which are usually combined to 16 megapixels in everyday use, as well as a wide-angle camera with a viewing angle of 123 degrees and a resolution of 13 megapixels. There is also a telephoto macro lens with five megapixels and a depth sensor with 2 megapixels. These are used for close-ups and the bokeh effect in portrait shots.
The front camera is hidden in the body of the F2 Pro and extends via a pop-up mechanism when its 20 megapixels are needed.
Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC and an infrared transmitter, which you can use to turn your smartphone into a universal remote control, round off the features of the Poco F2 Pro. Oh yes, there is also a 3.5 mm audio connection for your headphones.
Although the addition "Pro" might suggest it, there is no Poco F2, but Xiaomi has only presented the Poco F2 Pro. But it comes in four colour variants: "Neon Blue", "Phantom White" and the matt variants "Electric Purple" and "Cyber Grey".
