Samsung announces Unpacked 2022, uses the word "Note" suspiciously often

The Samsung Galaxy S22 will be unveiled at the beginning of February. The exact date has not been announced yet. It will probably be about pens.
Samsung will show new smartphones "in February," TM Roh, head of Samsung's Mobile Division, writes in a press release. The special feature: The word "Note" appears surprisingly often in the text. This raises expectations: Is a new Note coming?
Therefore: coffee grounds reading for Friday.
Note here, Note there, Note everywhere
In the press release, TM Roh doesn't just let himself get carried away with a little play on words. He writes about the "most noteworthy device of the S series". Note. Then he writes of "noticing", "taking note". Note.

Now that would be coincidence if there wasn't a big paragraph about the past of the Samsung Galaxy Note. And in Samsung's blog system, the post is noted as "Galaxy Note Series". Plus "Foldable" and "Galaxy Z Series."
This leads us to two possibilities that don't necessarily have to be true. It is also possible that both are true.
- Samsung Galaxy Z Fold with stylus
- Samsung Galaxy S22 with stylus
It may well be that both a Fold and an S will come with a stylus. It seems like TM Roh is announcing a Foldable with stylus. Because in the same paragraph where he looks into the history of the Novum Note, he also mentions the Novum Foldable. Is the grouping indicative of a device?

On the other hand, there are leaked renders floating around the world that are said to show a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra that has a stylus.
We will get answers "in February". When exactly, TM Roh doesn't say. But we can guess.
Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2022 should be in the first week of February.
The smartphone world and its brands follow a calendar that repeats itself annually. More or less, anyway. Samsung wants to get ahead of the flagship launch phase, which starts at the end of February/beginning of March. Therefore, the company usually celebrates its new flagships and itself at the beginning of the month.
Because then the timeline is clear: As a corporation, Samsung - just like the competition - wants to make sure that journalists have enough time to write about the new device. That takes a few weeks. In the last week of February, the journalists are busy with the MWC in Barcelona.
In addition to that:
- Journalists get the information from Samsung in advance, but sign a confidentiality agreement. This has not yet reached me. This points to a media event at the beginning of February.
- The working week from February 1 to 4 is shortened. Not ideal. Also, the media pre-briefing should be then. This is a small event, without pomp and show, where the equipment is shown to the media.
- Preparations and initial research for the MWC start around February 21.
To give journalists enough time, only the working week from February 7 to 11 will be considered for the official unveiling.
There. Done. Let's see if this is true.
