The world record has been broken: RAM with 6 GHz clock
Overclocker Toppc was the first to overclock DDR4 RAM to over 6 GHz. The new world record is now 6 016.8 MHz.
Topc has reached over 6 GHz with an 8 GB Trident Z Royal module. In recent months, many overclockers have come very close to the 6 GHz limit, as PC Gamer reports. The overclocker achieved the record on an MSI MPG Z390I Gaming Edge AC motherboard with Intel Core i9-9900K. To prevent the RAM from overheating, Toppc cooled it with liquid nitrogen . Even if RAM were to run at 6 GHz in everyday use, the increase in performance compared to "normal" clocked RAM would be small. 3000 MHz is perfectly sufficient for today's games and applications. Nevertheless, the results of overclockers are important for the development of RAM, as they provide important insights for manufacturers to improve their hardware.
