Trailer Tuesday: Bad Boys 3, The Aeronauts and Black Christmas

Will Smith and Martin Lawrence once again play the bad guys. There's also a Christmas horror film and a satirical talk show in cinema format. And: Taika Waititi as Adolf Hitler and a must-see trailer about a daring female aeronaut.
Trailer à gogo. Or rather: five of them. At least the trailers you absolutely have to see this week .
Between Two Ferns: The Movie
"Between Two Ferns" was originally a web series launched by "The Hangover" star Zach Galifianakis in 2008. A talk show in interview form, in which the feigned intimacy of celebrity interviews is taken for a ride. It looks something like this: In each of the roughly five-minute episodes, an invited celebrity and host Galifianakis exchange insults. The celebrities never know the questions Galifianakis asks in advance. An example from a Brad Pitt interview: "Showers." - "Yes." - "Why don't you never use them?" . The whole thing always takes place between two ferns. Hence the name. Now the concept is available in cinema format. Unfortunately not for the cinema. Galifianakis regrets this at the end of the trailer. But with lots and lots of celebrity power: Matthew McConaughey, Keanu Reeves, Benedict Cumberbatch, Will Ferrell, Peter Dinklage, David Letterman and many more.
Start date: 20 September 2019, Netflix
Jojo Rabbit
Not a good time to be a Nazi. Not in this film. And that's a good thing. In Jojo Rabbit, director Taika Waititi tells the story of how Jojo (Roman Griffin Davis), a member of the Hitler Youth, discovers that his mother is hiding the enemy in her home: "A jude." - "Gesundheit." (pronounce aloud)
Waititi plays Jojo's imaginary friend Adolf Hitler. Not an evil Hitler though. This version of Hitler helps Jojo overcome his blind nationalism. Yep, a (hopefully clever) war satire that I'm looking forward to seeing.
Cinema release: 18 October 2019
Black Christmas
A horror film that happens to be set at Christmas time and comes to the cinema around Christmas, how inventive! It's almost like when "Die Hard" was declared a Christmas action film because it was set on Christmas Eve.
I like that.
Cinema release: 13 December 2019
The Aeronauts
In 1862, a daring aeronaut, Amelia Wren (Felicity Jones), and an aspiring meteorologist, James Glaisher (Eddie Redmayne), board a weather balloon. The first of its kind. Together they fly to ground-breaking heights to break records and advance scientific discoveries. But then the ascent becomes a relentless fight for survival.
Holy shit. People. This trailer. I still have goosebumps, even after watching it for the umpteenth time. Definitely watch it!
Cinema release: 6 December 2019
Amazon Prime Video launch: 20 December 2019
Bad Boys For Life
Nobody asked for the second sequel. Nobody. And yet here it is: "Bad Boys For Life". "One last time". Argh, that sentence. I mean, it's the "Fast and the Furious" series that ruined this one-last-time-bro thing for me. Want to bet they'll make another film in 15 years? One last time? Yes?
That's why it's clear: the film will be watched. There's no chance it will turn out differently. Premiere day: Me in the front row. Will and Martin on the screen. Bad boys for life.
Cinema release: 17 January 2020
