Trailer Tuesday: Ford v Ferrari, Breaking Bad and Jurassic World

November marks the start of two series with surprising twists that are well worth seeing: «See» and «For All Mankind». «Ford v Ferrari» is about the story of two visionaries at the endurance race 24 Hours of Le Mans. Also: a pinch of «Breaking Bad» and a promising sneak peek at «Jurassic World 3».

New week, new trailers. And this week, there were so many good ones that I found it difficult to choose the most exciting five. But here they are. Let's go!

See

Apple TV+ starts its service on 1 November. «See» will be available right from the start. It's a series about actor Jason Momoa as Baba Voss, father of two twins born with a mystical ability: they can see.

This series plays in the far future, in a time so far away that the human race, like in the computer game «Horizon Zero Dawn», has ruined itself, gone back to living as in the Stone Age and is ruled by mystical cults. And: everyone is born blind. Everyone except baby twins. And they need to be protected, as the leaders of the cults see a threat in them.

Start date: 1 November 2019, Apple TV+

For All Mankind

It's 1969. Mankind is looking up at the great white satellite of earth. For six million years, humans have observed it, idolised it – even studied it. The moon.

News centers and talk shows around the globe are reporting live. Thousands are gathering in public places. Everybody wants to be there when the historic moment arrives: when the first human sets foot on the moon for the first time. Satellites send the first granular black-and-white images of the lunar surface; a man in a space suit descends the stairs. Then he takes this one small step, which is a great leap for mankind.

The man is Russian.

Start date: 1 November 2019

El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie

«El Camino», the long-awaited «Breaking Bad» movie, will be shown on Netflix starting November. Until then, the makers have given us «Enchanted», something between short film and trailer that takes us back to live the incredible journey of Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) – from the first to the fifth and last season of the amazing series.

Not much is known about El Camino yet. Except that the movie is about Pinkman. And that the film follows directly on from the end of the fifth season.

If you haven’t seen the show, you should change that. You can’t imagine how jealous I am of you that you’re still in for the treat of experiencing «Breaking Bad» for the very first time.

What a cheek! :-)

Start date: 10 November 2019

Ford v Ferrari

Fast cars, cool visuals and lots of great actors. Christian Bale is just amazing at taking on characters. What's strange is that I'm so used to seeing Bale speak with an American accent that it's almost strange to hear him speak with a British accent, even though he is British.

Nevertheless, the most promising thing about this movie is the director: James Mangold. He's been on my personal watchlist ever since the ingenious movie «Logan».

Release date in Swiss cinemas: 15 November 2019

Jurassic World: Battle at Big Rock

Spoiler alert: If you haven't seen Jurassic World 1 and 2 yet, don't read on.

Wow. Genius. Genius. Genius. Genius. Genius.

This isn’t a trailer. It's a short film. It has nothing to do with the second «Jurassic World» sequel, which will be released around June 2021 and will be directed by Colin Trevorrow – who, by the way, produced the first «Jurassic World» movie.

But it seems like Colin's a little bored. While the world is waiting for what will happen after the dinosaurs are let loose at the end of «Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom», Colin Trevorrow comes up with this short film – and show exactly that.

The effects, the animatronics, the music, the horror... I don't want to spoil things for you, but if «Jurassic World» is anything like this short film, then I’m totally on board.

«Jurassic World 3» release date in Swiss cinemas: 11 June 2021

I'm an outdoorsy guy and enjoy sports that push me to the limit – now that’s what I call comfort zone! But I'm also about curling up in an armchair with books about ugly intrigue and sinister kingkillers. Being an avid cinema-goer, I’ve been known to rave about film scores for hours on end. I’ve always wanted to say: «I am Groot.»
