Trailer Tuesday: Terminator 6, Star Trek and Westworld

«Terminator» is back (again), Patrick Stewart gets his own «Star Trek» series as Jean-Luc Picard and «Westworld» enters its third round in 2020. This week’s notable trailers.

The new trailer for Quentin Tarantino's «Once Upon a Time in Hollywood» finally reveals further story aspects. That’s good. I could hardly draw any conclusions with the first teaser. Producer James Cameron is giving us the sixth entry in the «Terminator» franchise. On board for the first time since «Terminator 2»: Linda Hamilton as Sarah Connor. But after the horrible «Terminator 5», I prefer not to set my expectations too high. There's some monster action in the final trailer for «Godzilla», while the teaser for «Star Trek: Picard» makes me excited for more. Finally, «Westworld» season three, coming up sometime next year. Looks terrific already.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

When Quentin Tarantino makes a film, it's kind of must-see: «Once Upon a Time in Hollywood» is his ninth and, according to his own statement, second last film. After the tenth, it’ll all be over. Thanks to this new trailer, we finally know what it's all about: Los Angeles, 1969. Television star Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his long-time stunt double Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt) face an ever faster changing Hollywood that they hardly know anymore. Looks fun.

Terminator: Dark Fate

«Terminator» is a mix of science fiction and horror. Part 2 – «Terminator: Judgement Day» - broke with the concept in 1991: more action in favour of mass appeal. There hasn't been a really good Terminator movie since. Meanwhile, the teaser to the sixth part, «Terminator: Dark Fate», seems to enjoy keeping its lips sealed: Arnold Schwarzenegger is there, his beard suits him. Linda Hamilton returns, age suits her too. And the timeline, completely destroyed by producers in «Terminator: Genisys» might get even more desecrated. I need some popcorn. Now.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters

«Godzilla: King of the Monsters» is located closer to the trashy side of the spectrum. This seems a definite conclusion, as it’s barely related to the sleek elegance that was the final trailer, featuring its epic cover of «Somewhere over the Rainbow». However: Does Godzilla just turn into some kind of Super Saiyan Godzilla at 0:46? If you know, please write the answer in the comments.

Star Trek: Picard

Shooting for the CBS series «Star Trek: Picard» began only last month. Finally. Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart), played by legendary actor Patrick Stewart, is one of the most popular characters among Star Trek fans. To honour him, the man who likes to drink hot Earl Grey tea is getting his own series. Outside of North America, the Picard series won't be available on Netflix, contrary to the other CBS-produced «Star Trek: Discovery». Instead, you'll be able to see it on Amazon Prime Video (thanks for noticing, @Arborman!).

Westworld, season three

What does reality mean in the virtual age? The teaser for the third season of the HBO series «Westworld» won’t get out of my head. The First Season begins in a futuristic amusement park where guests use robots to recreate stories from the Wild West. Season three aims to top this and then some. But I don't want to spoil. If you don't know the show, you should change that. «Westworld» is so good because, unlike Netflix, it no longer warns about technology such as «Black Mirror», but wonders how we should deal with it when it arrives. Great cinema.

Speaking of trailers. They're always in the original language. Mostly English. On the one hand, for many cinema enthusiasts this is the way it should be, on the other hand it makes the translation work for other language regions of Switzerland somewhat easier. Still, I'd like to hear from you:
