Shooting "Straight out of Camera" with the X-T2

Before I start talking about the technical details: relax and let yourself be seduced by the X-T2's image quality. None of the images have been reworked (wow), they're straight out of the camera. The photos were taken by Jens with the X-T2 and the Fujifilm XF 56mm, f/1.2.

Highlights of the X-T2

The X-T2 bears a striking resemblance to its predecessor, the X-T1. But inside the X-T2 is much better equipped. It seduces with the latest Fujifilm APS-C X-Trans CMOS III 24.3MP sensor, with faster autofocus (up to 325 AF points) and is the first Fujifilm interchangeable lens camera with 4K video. The package is rounded off by new professional accessories, such as the 'Power Booster' power grip for two extra batteries and generally higher performance. Along with the X-Pro2, the X-T2 is one of the flagship models in the X-series. Both cameras offer incredible performance, excellent resolution and, for Fuji cameras, unrivalled colour reality and ISO performance not found in any other camera. Design

Barely larger than the X-T1, the X-T2 - dust and splash resistant - offers a better grip and remains, at 13.2x9.2x4.9cm and 507g including batteries (vs X-T1 12.9x8.9x4.6cm and 440g) still compact, slim and light. Unlike the X-Pro2, the X-T2 has a folding 3" LCD screen. The screen can now be tilted in three different directions: up and down, as well as 45 degrees to the right - ideal for portraits and landscapes. Fujifilm photographers have come to appreciate the many individual setting options offered by the ergonomic control dial. It gives you direct access to all the settings you find important, without having to go through the menu. The adjustment buttons are smaller and, above all, higher than those on the X-T1, so they're easier to use. Another new feature is that the adjustment buttons can be secured with a 'click'. In addition, the X-T2 now has a dual SD card slot, which is both UHS-II compatible and lockable.

New X-Trans CMOS III sensor and faster hybrid autofocus

The same 24.3Mpx APS-C sensor, which is already winning over the X-Pro 2, is also used in the X-T2. Combined with the X pro processor, which has four times the computing power of the X-T1's previous EXR II processor, with the X-T2 you benefit from significantly faster autofocus and higher frequency with Live View mode. Hybrid autofocus offers a combination of phase-detection and contrast-detection AF points. The X-T2 uses 91 AF points as standard. And up to 325 collimators per subdivision. Another great new feature is the focus joystick, which can also be used with the X-T2. It can be swivelled up and down, left and right, and diagonally to quickly move the focus area and improve AF precision during shooting. It significantly optimises your efficiency and speed.

The first Fujifilm interchangeable lens camera with 4K video capability

Finally a Fuji camera for 4K video. With Powerboost mode (see details below), you can shoot for up to 30 minutes (30 fps) in 4K. Without Powerboost mode, that's just 10 minutes (30 fps) in 4K and 15 minutes in Full HD. According to Fujifilm, videos have a higher resolution (5120x2880 pixels). What's more, the X-T2 features uncompressed 4K video HDMI output, as well as the Log Gamma "F-Log" option.

Faster viewfinder, ISO and very good shutter speeds

The electronic viewfinder arrives with OLED technology with 2.36 million pixels and seduces with a viewfinder magnification of 0.77 times, as well as a response time of at least 0.005 seconds (60ips in normal mode and 100ips in boost mode). As with the X-Pro2, you now also have the option of using a soft release shutter button on the X-T2. The ISO performance of Fujifilm cameras is certainly one of the reasons why photographers love Fuji: an ISO range of 6,400 with a minimum exposure time of 1/125 seconds is child's play with the X-T2. Up to ISO 12,800 is possible, but you can still hear a little noise.

Powerboost mode and other accessories

With the VPB-XT2 vertical Powerboost power grip for two extra batteries, you can really give the X-T2 a boost. You'll be able to shoot up to 30 minutes in 4K (instead of 10 minutes in 'normal' mode) and take 11 frames per second in burst mode instead of 8 per second. The electronic viewfinder is also faster, and can display up to 100 frames per second. What's more, the power grip is also weatherproof, like the camera itself, and even has a socket for headphones. There's also a flash for the X-T2, provided by Fujifilm itself. Until now, you always had to buy one from a third-party supplier. The new EF-X500 flash can be used in TTL flash mode. The 22 Fujinon lenses are, of course, also compatible with the X-T2.
