With One UI 5.0: Android 13 for the Galaxy S22 is ready
The test phase is over. Samsung has released the final version of Android 13 including One UI 5.0 for the Galaxy S22, S22+ and S22 Ultra smartphones for download.
Android 13 will first be released for the Galaxy S22 models in Europe. In Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy and France, among others, you should already find the update to firmware version S90xBXXU2BVJA in the settings of your smartphone under "Software update" and "Download and install". An official confirmation from Samsung is still pending, but many users report on Twitter and Reddit that the update is available on their devices.
One UI 5.0: Bixby takes over phone calls and videos as background animation
Nearly two months After Android 13 came out with a host of new features, Samsung has tweaked the operating system to match its user interface and given it a new version number. One UI 5.0 also contains additional functions that only appear for Samsung devices. These include "Bixby Text Call", for example. Samsung's voice assistant shows you what your callers say as text and in turn reads out your typed response to them. With the "Watch Face Studio" you can design your own watch faces for the Galaxy Watch. The Galaxy Fold and Galaxy Tablets also get a taskbar with the update.
Other than that, One UI 5.0 brings more personalisations for the home screen - for example, videos as background animation. Widgets can be stacked and security and privacy notifications are available in a combined dashboard. You can also create shortcuts for different modes and routines and then adjust all volume and playback settings to an activity with a tap of your finger.
