The revised C3000 combines tried-and-true microphone technology with modern AKG design and road-ready finish. The C3000 features a cardioid polar pattern and a frequency range of 20 Hz to 20 kHz. In addition to low-noise electronics and high overload resistance, it has an integrated capsule suspension that prevents mechanical vibrations through cables and stands. An integrated windscreen effectively suppresses wind noise and plosives. The switchable 10 dB pad increases the maximum sound pressure level by 10 dB, allowing for the recording of very loud instruments such as brass instruments and guitar amplifiers.

The bass roll-off switch activates at 500 Hz with a drop of 6 dB/octave, compensating for the proximity effect in close-miking situations.
