Product details
The AKG C414 XLII is a versatile large-diaphragm condenser microphone of reference class. It offers five polar patterns: omnidirectional, cardioid, wide cardioid, hypercardioid, and figure-eight. Additionally, four intermediate settings can be selected, with the current setting displayed via an LED. There are also three pad switches and three high-pass filters. This great flexibility allows the microphone to be perfectly adapted to various recording situations.
Its sound is open and high-resolution with a slight presence boost. The AKG C414 XLII is excellent for recording vocals and solo instruments. The recordings stand out well in the mix even without any adjustments. Quiet passages are captured transparently and nuanced thanks to the extremely low self-noise. The high maximum sound pressure level also makes it suitable for recording drums. It is particularly well-suited for use as an overhead microphone or for snare and hi-hat.
The AKG C414 XLII is also suitable for demanding live use. A lock mode prevents accidental adjustments of the settings through a button lock. The peak hold LED reliably indicates electronic clipping, even with the shortest signal peaks.
The microphone is delivered in a metal case with an elastic mount, pop filter, windscreen, and dust protection pouch. The AKG C414 XLII is also available as a specially matched stereo set.
