Neutral Density Filter - Creative Through Less Light
Neutral density filters, also known as ND filters, block the entire visible spectrum evenly, resulting in a reduction of light without affecting colors and contrast. Since they also block UV radiation, there is no need for an additional UV filter. A neutral density filter is often required to reduce depth of field when using a wide aperture. However, the effectiveness of this application depends on the focal length of the lens. Furthermore, they allow for "normal" shutter speeds and aperture settings when the film sensitivity is too high for the existing brightness.
Neutral Density Filter:
Filter Factor: 1000
Stops: 10
Density (ND): 3.0
B+W Neutral Density Filter 110:
With a light reduction of ten stops, this neutral density filter offers an improvement over the previous model (also providing a slightly warmer tone). Its main application area is the observation and documentation of industrial processes under extreme brightness (such as melting furnaces, incandescent filaments in halogen and other lamps, and combustion processes).
