Almost all variants of the Ducky One 3 feature high-quality keycaps made of PBT, a semi-crystalline plastic that is resistant to abrasion and popular among keyboard modders. Ducky moulds the keycaps from two layers of plastic to ensure the key lettering remains clearly legible. Unlike other plastics, these keycaps do not develop the usual lustre from intensive use, keeping the keyboard looking new for a long time.

A common criticism of mechanical keyboards is their clunkiness. The newly developed housing of the Ducky One 3 is flatter than that of its predecessors and, combined with the three-stage feet, relieves wrist strain. To enhance the sound and typing feel, Ducky tested 17 different rubber compounds and selected the most suitable variant for the Q-Bounce pad.
