The GPeR unit allows for extending the Ethernet cable by an additional hop (less than 100 to 150 m to regular network devices and up to 210 m to another GPeR unit) up to 1,500 m. It is particularly useful for high-rise buildings and multi-family homes with many floors and sections, where very long Ethernet cables could be problematic.

The maximum allowable length of the CAT6 Ethernet cable between the GPeR and the power source or router is up to 100 m (depending on cable quality; high-quality cables allow up to 150 m). The maximum allowable distance of the CAT6 Ethernet cable between two GPeR devices is up to 210 m (depending on cable quality).

If the target device does not support PoE-in power supply, the PoE passthrough can be disabled by manually removing all jumpers.
