The display is only Full HD. Set the output signal from the camera to Auto and everything is ok. You can record to the internal storage media with all conceivable resolutions without affecting the signal on the HDMI.

No, the Shinobi is just a monitor. You need a recorder to record. This would be the Atomos Ninja V.
Just tried it with my A7s and FX6. Only works up to 25/30fps in HDMI 4k out. It's "only" a monitor without the possibility of HDMI through. As a pure monitor, HD is sufficient for my use. I love it anyway ;)

Yes, the monitor is compatible with the camera. It also needs a corresponding cable, a battery and a mounting device for the gimbel. I doubt whether the latter is available for purchase. If you install the monitor on the fixed part of the gimbal, you need a highly flexible and longer cable, so that the cable does not block the movements. If you mount the monitor on the moving part, you have a completely different centre of mass than with just the camera.
