No. There are no charging electronics built into the P-Touch.
But there are P-Touch machines where a battery can be installed. E.g. the orange P-Touch with an "E-".

In our case, the batteries in the PT400 are not charged. So either operate with battery or with mains adapter but do not charge the batteries in the unit as expected.

I bought the power adapter together with the Brother P-touch D-400 machine. This can be used with batteries as well as with the power adapter. I decided to use the power adapter. Without batteries, however, the printed labels cannot be saved. This is not a disadvantage for me. What is important to me is the up to 3-line printout and the numerous design options. Brother recommends this adapter for my machine, but I was not at all interested in whether it would also fit other machines. In any case, I only saw this adapter when I ordered it. If other devices have the same socket, it should also fit. In any case, my device cannot be supplied with power via USB.

In this USA manual on page 47 it says: AD-30 as the type designation for an AC adapter. But this is probably for 110V and not for 230V. Pictures clearly show a USA plug on the power supply.

Hello Jolanda. Seems to be an older model? Sold out on both Broher.ch and Brother.de and no info on power supply available. Not only listed on digitec.ch in the compatibility list. Am eicht glad, I bought mine as my batteries, PT105, kept running out. Buy and try. Good luck.
