Have ordered this keyboard for the third time and I have exactly the same problem, cannot switch on...

It really belongs in the product description! Otherwise you can google the Logitech article number from the technical details and find the answer: no.
The item is only a case, not a tablet. A mouse can basically be connected to an iPad via Bluetooth (at least with certain models) but it is not really recommended.
USB doesn't work, it doesn't have a connection for that. I don't know if it works via Bluetooth.
(I bought it for the iPad 6th gen). Just have a look at Logitech, it says everything exactly

On the manufacturer's side the compatibility to the mentioned version is guaranteed.
Unfortunately no, format and keys fit, contact for keyboard does not.
It fits iPad 9.7 (March 2017) & iPad 9.7 (March 2018).

Yes, it fits, I also use it with the 6th /2018. The information here is somewhat inaccurate, but can be traced via the Logitech number. The price difference to the other model is due to the fact that this one has German, while the more expensive one has Swiss German.
