So the photo is version 2 and the product in stock is version 1 with the latest firware update. According to Tp-Link, only version 1 is sold in Europe, the other v2 is said to be available in the USA and elsewhere. I also find it incomprehensible. The reset button is on the back, the 8 port works great once it updates itself... so V1.

I cannot answer the question directly because my switch does not process such data. But as a long-time sysadmin, I may be able to contribute something. Is there a particular reason that makes you suspect that there could be problems? In principle, these are simply IP packets.

On my copy, I would describe it as narrow and high: 55 x 25 x 60 (mm, L x W x H when plugged in). The power supply has a 2-pin Euro plug (standard EN 50075), the length is in axis of the 2 plug pins, thus the power supply protrudes to the left or right over a standard power strip and does not block parallel sockets. Provided that the sockets are installed 'crossways', I'll try ASCII graphics: <-- B --> _____ / \ | o | ^ | o | | | | L | | | | | v \____/ I would attach a photo if it were possible in this answer form ;)

I have received the hardware version 5.0 delivered in May 2021. ("Hardware version TL-SG108E 5.0") The firmware version "1.0.0 Build 20191021 Rel.53360" is updatable, but it did not need an update until now. You can assign a fixed IP to the switch that is not assigned by the DHCP server (i.e. outside the IP range of the DHCP server). Then you can log into the switch via browser with a password defined by you.
