Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 - G85NB
3840 x 2160 Pixels, 32"
I had 4 G8 Neo and 2 G7 Neo. Only one G7 Neo was without dirt. Other users also report similar incidents.
The panel manufacturer is the well known cheapo CSOT. This company has already attracted attention with very poor rates for the G9 Neo. Out of 15 G9 Neos, only two had no dirt in the panel.
Even at 200 euros, I would send such monitors back with a vengeance. I don't pay that much money to have to look at inclusions every day.
Apart from that, the monitor has a massive problem with scanlines (horizontal lines) in 240 Hz mode. In addition, the stand and the monitor suspension are extremely wobbly. If you think you can just use an Ergotron monitor arm, you're wrong. The Ergotron LX bends and does not stay straight because Samsung was so "clever" and placed the centre of gravity too far in front of the joint with the Vesa adapter. This creates too much leverage. You have to buy the 260 euro HX version plus the extra stable monitor joint for 60 euros.
The coating, i.e. the anti-reflective film, is very dull. It looks blurred and the colour brilliance is quite poor.
In addition, the viewing angles are very poor. The top 15% of the image is still nicely saturated, the rest is massively washed out and blotchy.
There are problems with homogeneity in many panels. Some monitors have darkened areas and nicotine yellow colour casts.
HDR is also not remotely comparable to very good HDR from TVs or good HDR monitors with over 1000 nits consistently. With a 100% HDR window, the G8 Neo reaches a maximum of 300 nits. Even ancient HDR monitors like the X27 from 2018 already had 600 nits consistently. In addition, the tone mapping on the G8 Neo is lousy. Colours are very pale and distorted in HDR. The only advantage of Fald is that you hardly have any blooming. However, because the G8 Neo wants to avoid blooming by all means, many HDR details are faded out.
Please buy an LG C2 42".

First of all, I would like to say a big thank you to the postmen and women who deliver the parcels on Saturday.
Today, Saturday, I received the monitor and put it into operation. The installation went ok. Since I use a monitor mount, the first thing I had to do was mount the intermediate plate on the back of the monitor. Once the monitor was mounted, the next thing I had to do was tighten the tilt screw on the bracket because the monitor tilted forward. It is heavier than the previous 32-inch. Because of the mounting mechanism and the curvature, the monitor comes closer to the user -> there should be enough space behind the monitor to push it away from the user to the previous distance (about 8cm).
Only a Displayport cable is supplied. No HDMI cable. Instead, the power cable (2 pin) fits on the CH socket, without an adapter. The power adapter is large. Connected the gaming computer via Displayport, selected the "Input" in the menu and set 240Hz. Worked straight away. Pupg started, settings 2560 x 1440, High, an Asus 3090 graphics card achieves 190-220 FPS. I still have to get used to the curved picture :-)
Second test scenario: Connected my business notebook via HDMI. 4K 60Hz..works. Whew, what a difference between 240Hz and 60Hz! Interesting that the monitor is not curved linearly, but is more curved in the middle. If you use two windows next to each other (e.g. two documents), they are displayed almost "flat" (uncurved). Is this intentional on Samsung's part?
The picture is generally sharp. My copy has no pixel defects; I haven't found any yet :-)
So my conclusion after two hours spent with this monitor: it fits!
Update 18.01.2023: I'm on the 3rd copy: all have single subpixel errors :-(

I was very deceived when I read the negative reviews on the net about the wobbly stand, scanlines, pixel errors, etc. I am now mostly playing CP2077 at 4K 120Hz and am absolutely thrilled.

The description said it was already unpacked, but unfortunately it was not complete. A cable was missing, usb and a rubber foot is missing from the stand. The screen wobbles, I put a piece of paper under it.

Wow this display is a beast. Enable HDR in windows settings of course, otherwise it will get dark, you might even have the black crush digitec writes about (did they not enable HDR in the windows settings? :'D). But from then on... Just WOW!
There's no black crush problems as digitec writes, none at all. The contrast is excellent even in dark spots. When I test it via a color gradient in photoshop, I can see many different black variations even if the gradient goes from completely black with hsv-value 0 to not even 1. This already leads to multiple black values, amazing, never seen this before. I just tested that as well in a game, went into a VERY dark room and I saw so much detail, the black doesn't eat any of it up. The monitor for it's size is very stable. Runs on full resolution 4k @ 240Hz via Display Port..
I did have quite problems with HDMI, mb my cable is broken, but display port works flawlessly.
The frame-rate of course has to be set inside the monitors own settings first of course, i think it's on 120Hz by default, so this has to be set to 240Hz if needed. If you change from HDMI to Display Port or back, you need to set the framerate AGAIN! Seriously, the space by the 32" display running on 4K is just silly. I have so much space for my 3D and video processing apps it's really the best investment of the year after the new graphics card. And regarding gaming, I'd say this monitor size is perfect, yet at the limit of size. I think it's the perfect size, for gaming you'd be also content with a bit smaller size, but you still have everything in your view.. enemy heads for sure are bigger now ;)I can only recommend this display! I think it was worth every penny.
