Internal values - Seagate Barracuda 2.5 inch 5TB

These Seagate enclosures are super easy to open. Inside is a Seagate Barracuda disk with the designation ST5000LM000. These discs have 600000 load/unload cycles and are very quiet. If you don't care about preserving the enclosure, the discs are also an ideal fit for a NAS because they are very low-vibration, use super little power and make no noise. The recording method is SMR, i.e. you should not mix the discs with CMR discs. Used individually, of course, it is no problem. Many people might think that this is not a NAS disc, it is not, but since the disc has just as many load/unload cycles and with a weight of only 190 g it weighs only 800 g on a 4Bay NAS (in contrast to approx. 750 g per 3.5 inch disc), I much prefer the small 5TB discs as a replacement for everything from 1 to 4 TB. A NAS equipped with them weighs less and definitely makes less noise, so if you use several Seagate Barracuda 5TB 2.5 inch disks in a RAID5, you are also well protected against possible hardware failures.

Of course, these disks with an external housing are also great for backing up a NAS :).

    • Great price for 5TB (formatted as ExFAT it is 4657 GB)

    Works with Windows 11/10

Attention: this HDD works with the Wii U BUT the cable that is included does not provide enough power, you need a Y-Cable Micro B USB (a USB cable with 2 normal USB-A and 1 USB micro B)

    Pro

    • is already nicely pre-formatted exFat (say that 10 times in a row)

    Contra

    • a bit expensive

Functional, but the connection interface is a little outdated

Compact and lightweight, this storage drive does its job. The only drawback is that it comes with a non-standard connection interface. What's more, the cable used to connect it only offers a USB A interface. You'll need a USB A/USB C converter...
