The RODE VideoMic Pro is a true shotgun microphone designed for use with camcorders, DSLR cameras, and portable audio recorders as a source for primary and reference audio. At the heart of the VideoMic Pro is a completely new half-inch condenser capsule that delivers broadcast-quality audio through a 3.5 mm mini-jack connection with an incredibly low self-noise of just 14 dB. A supercardioid polar pattern minimizes ambient noise and focuses your recording on the subject in front of the camera. The integrated Rycote Lyre-based shock mounting system isolates the VideoMic Pro capsule and electronics from its mount, providing insulation from external physical factors that can cause unwanted rumble and vibrations in the microphone. Made from a single piece of durable thermoplastic, the Lyre offers superior acoustic suspension compared to traditional elastic solutions and will never wear out, sag, or get stuck. The power, filter, and level controls are easily accessible on the back of the microphone. In addition to the microphone's native 40 Hz-20 kHz response, a selectable high-pass filter at 80 Hz is available to prevent low-end noise such as air conditioning and traffic from being recorded.
