It follows in the long RME tradition of ultra-compact high-end interfaces that combine features, functionality and quality in a half-19-inch chassis, for which other manufacturers require several full rack widths. The compact audio system enables analogue and digital audio data to be transferred to Windows and Mac computers. Professional DSP effects, sophisticated settings and excellent analogue circuits make the UCX II easy to use. The front panel features two XLR mic/line preamps and two line/instrument inputs, each of which can be controlled digitally. Also on the front are the headphone output, several selector buttons, the display and the volume and selection controls. Ten analogue balanced line inputs and outputs, MIDII/O, ADAT I/O, AES/EBU and SPDIF I/O, USB 2.0 and a switchable word clock I/O are available on the rear panel. The Fireface can be easily controlled via the front panel using rotary controls and buttons. Four buttons, an encoder and the colour display ensure quick and clear operation. Up to six states can be saved via the internal memory, so the UCX II can also work without a connected computer. The integrated DURec digital recorder enables recordings to be transferred to USB sticks or hard drives. Alternatively, this USB port can also be used to connect optional ARCUSB remote controls. Thanks to DirectUSB Recording, the UCX II can also be used as a field recorder. Concerts or rehearsals can thus be recorded and played back, even without a computer or additional software. The Fireface comes with the TotalMix FX DSP mixer, which offers numerous routing and monitoring options. The DIGICheck analyser measures and analyses the digital data feed in both directions with maximum precision. TotalMix FX replaces an external mixer and allows you to create multiple monitor mixes with EQ, reverb, dynamics and delay as well as headphone mixes for musicians. Mixes and effects can be controlled remotely via the TotalMixRemote. All line-level outputs of the UCX II are fully DC-coupled and allow control voltages (CV) or gate information to be sent to modular synthesisers and other studio hardware. The UCXII operates in two modes: driver-based USB2 and Class Compliant. Class Compliant is a standard that is actively supported by all common operating systems. The Fireface is recognised directly as soon as the CC firmware is loaded. The functions are limited in contrast to those of the RME driver for the UCX II.
