SSDs, also known as flash storage drives, do not yet reach the high capacities of traditional HDDs. However, their undeniable advantages include high read and write speeds as well as lower latency. Their lifespan is now essentially comparable to that of conventional hard drives, although it is important to choose the right DWPD key value (the number of rewrites of the total capacity of the drive within a day). When selecting a hard drive, it is crucial to decide between SATA, SAS, or NVMe drives. SATA and SAS drives are designed for both HDDs and SSDs and differ in their theoretical transfer speeds. NVMe drives are exclusively flash-based and therefore achieve much higher read/write values, as well as featuring very low latency.
