SSDs, also known as flash storage drives, do not yet reach the high capacities of traditional HDDs. However, their undeniable advantages include high read and write speeds as well as lower latency. Their lifespan is now essentially comparable to that of conventional hard drives, but it is important to choose the right DWPD key value (the number of rewrites of the total capacity of the drive within a day). When selecting a hard drive, it is important to choose between SATA, SAS, or NVMe drives. SATA and SAS drives are intended for both HDDs and SSDs and differ in their theoretical transfer speeds. NVMe drives are exclusively flash-based, achieving much higher read/write values and also characterized by very low latency.
