AWG (American Wire Gauge, also known as Brown & Sharpe Wire Gauge) is a standardized system for electrical wire gauges used in the United States. The cross-sectional area of the conductor determines the maximum current that cables can safely carry. As the AWG number increases, the wire thickness decreases.

The diameter of the cable is determined by the parameter OD.
