Thanks to the low mass of the capsule and the ultra-thin yet remarkably durable capsule diaphragm, the M80 delivers excellent sound transmission, particularly for vocal performances, which is typically expected only from studio condenser microphones.

The microphone head and capsule design have been engineered to reduce the proximity effect that can unnaturally boost the low frequencies of a voice. Nevertheless, the microphone sounds very grounded and solid in the bass while remaining "open" and "airy," without producing unwanted feedback in the upper midrange.
