Thanks to the low mass of the capsule and the super-thin yet remarkably durable capsule membrane, the M80 allows for excellent sound transmission of vocal performances, typically only associated with studio condenser microphones.

The microphone head and capsule design have been engineered to reduce the proximity effect, which can unnaturally boost the low frequencies of a voice. Nevertheless, the microphone sounds very solid and well-defined in the bass while remaining open and airy, without generating unwanted feedback in the upper midrange.
