The Telefunken M80 is a dynamic microphone that closely approaches the sound quality of a condenser microphone. It offers a wide frequency response range of 50 Hz - 18 kHz and a high maximum sound pressure level of 140 dB. The M80 is a superior alternative to the overly colored character of industry-standard microphones. It is suitable for both live performance and recording applications, whether for vocals, instruments, or drums, and has an open, airy character with solid lows. The excellent sound transmission, particularly noticeable in vocal projection, is supported by the low mass of the capsule, delivering results typically associated with studio condenser microphones. The microphone head and capsule are designed to reduce the proximity effect that can unnaturally exaggerate the low frequencies in vocals.
