The advantages of a fiber optic network can only be fully utilized when fiber optic cables are installed up to the workplace (Fibre To The Desk). Network cabling with optical fibers requires removable, repeatable, and robust connections between the optical fibers laid in the channel and the end-user connection cable. The optical fiber couplings must be securely and protectedly mounted in a wall outlet or floor box so that the connections can be easily plugged and unplugged, and the optical fiber cable routing does not fall below the permissible minimum radius of 25 mm. If splice connections with pigtail connectors are planned, there must be provisions for splice storage and reserve lengths, as well as strain relief options. Even when using breakout cables or mini breakout cables, strain relief and bend radius limitations should be present. These requirements are not met with simply constructed boxes consisting of covers and coupling sockets.
