In the game, players must defend the home island of Ninjago as Lloyd, Nya, Jay, Kai, Cole, Zane, and Master Wu against Lord Garmadon and his shark army. To do this, they need to master the art of ninja agility, allowing them to navigate through Ninjago by running along walls, jumping high into the air, and battling the enemies of Ninjago. This progression helps them rank up and improve their ninja combat skills.

Players can also harness the power of Spinjitzu to defend Ninjago together.

• Local Co-Op: Each player requires both Joy-Con controllers.
• Enhanced movements help players move fluidly and gracefully like a secret ninja warrior through Ninjago while improving their combat skills.
• The game features eight large, action-packed locations from the storyline of The Lego Ninjago Movie. Each location has its own unique Dojo of Challenges, where players can test their combat abilities and face increasingly powerful opponents.
