Can I use this access point as an extension for a salt router? I currently have it on the 2nd floor of my house floor of my house, but now I always have to manually dial a different wifi with my mobile devices when I'm upstairs. Can this device simply extend another router (salt fibre box)?

Better to buy a repeater. This extends the existing LAN by a little range. However, it usually costs 50% speed if no mesh is available.

Yes, but if you don't have a complete Unifi system, it's not so easy to programme. (In the Unifi system it's a piece of cake.) There are other access points that are easier to programme. Don't be fooled by the speed figures. You will never achieve the specified figures!
