Can this AP also be operated via an "external" power supply ? Idea: There is no Ethernet connection between the Dreammachine and the installation location of the AP. The distance is too great via wireless link (which is why the remote AP is needed). I don't know if the connection between the controller and the AP works via a simulation of an Ethernet cable using Powerline or similar, and if such a forwarding via a power line would provide PoE. What experience do you have?
No - only PoE is possible.
Yes, it is possible, if I understand it correctly.
Connect the powerline adapter to the Dreammachine from there via the power to the remote location, plug in the second powerline adapter there and plug the LAN cable into the PoE Injector on the LAN, connect the PoE output to the AP and you're done.
This way, the data is delivered via Powerline and the power supply on site at the AP from the PoE Injector supplied.
Powerline is not as stable and more susceptible to interference in our view.
