An IT forensic expert pointed out to me that only the "hard disk enclosure" is protected by the fingerprint, but the data is present unencrypted on the SSD medium. Anyone who has the time and know-how to convert the storage medium into a suitable housing will then have unhindered access to your data.

Of course, Samsung does not tell us this, but it is the only USP that would in any way justify the price for the paltry 1TB.
