Does this hard disk encrypt the data or only the access to the storage medium? Are we paying 8 times more per TB for security that we don't get?

The SSD has two types of security: via fingerprint and the data is encrypted via AES-256.

I will gladly give you the answer myself. An IT forensic expert pointed out to me that only the "hard disk enclosure" is protected by the fingerprint, but the data is present unencrypted on the SSD medium. Anyone who has the time and know-how to convert the storage medium into a suitable housing will then have unhindered access to your data.

Of course, Samsung does not tell us this, but it is the only USP that would in any way justify the price for the paltry 1TB.
