Netgear Orbi RBK53 Mesh WiFi Set
Good day to you all, I am wondering if my introduction will work smoothly. We live in a 3-storey house and want to have the best reception. At the moment we use a Nighthawk 7500 on the ground floor, which delivers top performance when wired, but is technically disappointing at a distance like any other router. I would like to go from the Thurcom modem to the Orbi router. From the Lan port into a Gigabyte switch, so that the necessary cable devices are supplied on the ground floor. Another Lan cable from the switch goes to the first floor and is connected in bridge mode with the Nighthawk 7500 (WLAN switched off so that only the Orbi system works together). The Nighthawk serves me as a connection for Xbox and co. Another Lan cable from the Nighthawk to the first Orbi satellite for WLAN on the first floor. The second satellite is connected via WLAN on the second floor. If I have understood the bridge mode correctly, this serves as a loop-through and simply allows me further Lan connections and should not lead to any problems? Many thanks for your answers and best regards Alan

Technically, it is best to rely only on ORBI's WLAN. What Iris did, namely uninstalling all other WLAN devices, is the best thing to do. If you don't have a switch, forget about things like putting a router in bridge mode. That can cause problems. It's best to buy a switch. Take one from Netgear from the ProSafe series. They are the best with a good price/performance ratio.

I'm not that technically proficient and can therefore only explain our situation in simple terms. The router is in the basement and a LAN cable was run to the top floor (old building with 3 floors), as there is an office there. Lan worked well, but Wlan was annoying because there was a different Wlan network on each floor and you always had to reconnect. The wifi was often weak. After a while I got fed up and bought the Orbi and now I have nothing else. I got rid of the Magicbox and the airport. The Orbi is so powerful that I can even operate the Hue lamps in the garden. Actually, I should have done it like that from the beginning, then I could have saved the money for the access points. It's really true that the wifi can be received seamlessly across all floors and I haven't felt any weakening wifi yet.
