Greetings. My head is throbbing because I've been trying to sort something out for days: I have a Sony microphone, the appropriate cables for it and would like to improve the quality of the mic, i.e. optimise or eliminate hum, volume etc. for Zoom and any Audacity recordings. I would like to connect the device in such a way that I no longer need the webcam mic, but the microphone, so that the people at the other end can hear me more clearly. From time to time I make explainer videos and I would like to eliminate this noise, which I hope to do with the device. However, an additional cable is needed from the Focusrite to the PC, but which one? I find umpteen videos but these questions are just not answered.... Can anyone give me any last hints on how to optimise the mic sound?

The only cable you need from the PC to the Focusrite is a standard USB cable, which is included. The connector on the back of the Focusrite is USB-C and the cable has a USB-A connector on the other side. The device works fine with the standard drivers from the operating system, at least under macOS.
