Has anyone tried it with a MacBook Pro? Which USB-C cable should I use, normal or Thunderbolt? Does USB 3 go through the same cable? Thank you.

Thunderbolt 3 and USB-C are pretty much the same cable, except for the speed (which has no real influence on this Samsung display). USB 3 is a different cable with different connectivity, different functions and different speed.
