How is the configuration? does it work like Sonos, do the AP's connect themselves to each other and only one needs to be connected to the network? or does each AP need a poe with network?

It needs the controller software on a PC.
However, you can also operate them individually as stand-alone. But then they do not communicate together. Poe 48v needs it separately.
