I have the Godox V1 clip-on flash. Do I need an additional transmitter or is communication only possible directly via the V1?

When the V1 is on the camera, you don't need a transmitter.

The V1 can trigger the AD400Pro and other Godox flashes via radio, if that's what was meant. But you don't always want to have a flash on the camera. The whole thing can be controlled better with the Xpro trigger.
