If you already have a TV with which you can access the internet, but you want to operate it with Google Home, i.e. by voice command. Is it worth buying the Google Chromecast just for that?

Chromecast is mainly worthwhile for 4K streaming via third-party applications. With internet-enabled TVs, you are always tied to the TV's own applications and the TV remote control.
With Chromecast, you can stream anything you want from Android (& desktop Chrome). And this from any device in the WLAN. Whether music, pictures, videos, streams, screens, etc., you can do it all.

There is no yes/no answer to your question, but I would never want to go back to the time when the TV could still be operated on the TV (instead of via tablet/laptop/mobile phone). That's probably more a matter of taste ;-)
